OOO My Design’s Pin Press Shelf Makes Cleaning Up Fun for Kids

by Julie Seguss, 12/09/11

Wish your kids would learn to put away their toys and books on their own? OOO My Design’s Pin Press attempts to solve that problem. The wall of pins, which designer Vanesa Moreno calls a kid’s room shelf, can be manipulated to hold toys and books. When kids push the pins or push an object into the wall, it adapts its form to the objects to hold them like a shelf.

We love how playful this piece of furniture is and bet that it would at least help in encouraging kids to clean up. But kids may spend more time playing and exploring than organizing with this wall, which could be a catchall for favorite toys, books and plushies.

Sadly, for now the clever Pin Press design is still just a concept. The prototype is made from wood, but Moreno says the final product may be produced on either wood or cardboard — sustainably or recycled we hope. Pin Press won the Josep Ros furniture design competition.
